Acceptance

These terms are an agreement between you and Alaq LLC ("Alaq", "we") about your use of the Alaq service. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

Alaq is a web app that helps teachers run their lessons: picking who answers, a timer, reward stars, a leaderboard, and placing students into groups by level. We continually develop the service and may add, change or discontinue features.

Your account

• You must be an adult with the capacity to contract, and give accurate information when you sign up.
• You are responsible for securing access to your account (your phone or Google account) and for everything done through it.
• Tell us immediately at support@alaq.app if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

Your students' data

You enter your students' names and data and remain responsible for them. You confirm you are authorised to enter them under your school's policy and applicable law. We process this data only to provide the service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that harms or embarrasses students.
• Try to access other people's accounts or data, disrupt the service, or test its security without our written permission.
• Copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service.
• Share your account with others beyond your own use as a teacher.

Subscription and payment

• Every account starts with a free 14-day trial, no card required.
• After that, classroom mode requires a paid subscription (monthly, semester or yearly, as available in your country). Prices are shown in US dollars before you pay and may vary by country.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time.
• Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders and handles billing, taxes, payment inquiries and refunds. Purchases are also subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms.
• We may change prices and will tell you before any change applies to your subscription at renewal.

Refunds and cancellation are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

When a subscription ends

If your subscription or trial ends, your account becomes read-only: your classes and data are kept and you can export or delete them, and classroom mode is paused until you subscribe. Unpaid accounts are deleted 12 months after their last activity, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

The service, its design, logo and artwork belong to us. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it during your subscription. The content you enter (your classes and students) remains yours.

Availability and disclaimer

We aim to keep the service running and offer offline mode for some features, but we provide it "as is" and do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Teachers remain responsible for their decisions in the classroom.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, notifying you where possible.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will tell you about material changes before they take effect, and continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you have under the law of your country.
